This past weekend, Miami and the greater South Florida area experienced some of the most severe storms of the season. Heavy downpours, powerful winds, and even hail led to widespread flooding, downed trees, power outages, and significant property damage in neighborhoods from Cutler Bay to Palmetto Bay and South Miami.

What Happened?

Flood advisories and severe thunderstorm warnings were issued throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties this weekend. Over 6 inches of rain fell in some areas, causing severe flooding in streets and parking lots. Winds reached up to 50 mph, uprooting century-old trees and damaging homes and vehicles. As a result, power outages lasted for hours in several neighborhoods.
